AS The royals viewed the floral tributes at the palaces, some in the crowd could not contain their excitement. They were there to show their respect at the Queen’s passing, but clearly quickly forgot that.

The racing at doncaster started with a minute’s silence and the programme was dedicated to the Queen’s love of horses.

even though this is supposed to be a time of national mourning, there were ladies dressed to the nines and many of the racegoers were waving at the cameras as if to say: ‘ey up, I’m on t’telly!’
