SHAnE SnATER’S aggressive, unbeaten 65 secured ESSEX a thrilling one- wicket win over YORKSHIRE inside three days at Headingley.

The visitors took eight wickets in the first half of the day to bowl Yorkshire out for 252 in their second innings, but they later slipped to 64 for six and 93 for seven in pursuit of 162 to win.

Then Snater took over with fellow seamer

Ben Allison and, after two more late wickets fell to give Yorkshire hope, Snater heaved Ben Coad through midwicket to secure Essex’s sixth win of the campaign.

Tom Curran struck a swashbuckl­ing maiden first- class century as title- chasing SURREY set up a victory charge against NORTHANTS. The home side lead by 127 with five wickets left going into the last day at Wantage Road.
