Final journey

-

LIKE Peter Hitchens, I wish the route of the cortege from Balmoral to Windsor had considered the many thousands of citizens who live outside Scotland and London.

Other than on TV, we have missed the moving sight of the last journey of our Queen. It could have been routed by train through our great cities of York, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Birmingham and Cardiff.

Those wishing to pay their respects would have been able to stand on platforms and bridges.

If the journey had been made by road, the cortege could have stopped for overnight vigils in cathedrals. The

Queen’s subjects who live in Northern cities and rural areas feel we have been ignored and forgotten.
