WISTERIA SUCKERS MUST GO

-

RecentLy, I discovered several long wisteria stems running along the ground. I thought of training them onto the wall, to join the mature branches. But then I discovered they were suckers, growing from the root-stock. Garden wisterias are grafted. these suckers are unlikely to flower and, if left, will weaken the grafted plant. they should be removed. cut the suckers flush with the main stem or below the ground. Keep an eye out for further suckers.
