LIGHT Science Technologies Holdings soared after an update on a key contract.

It is developing a device that uses technology such as LED lighting to provide data on plant life and soil health so farmers can grow more.

The first of four stages under its contract with salad producer Zenith Nurseries has been completed and generated £51,000. A phase to use a device on new polytunnels has been brought forward and could rake in £1.9m. It rose 12.5pc, or 0.75p, to 6.75p.
