HIS MAJESTY’S RELENTLESS SCHEDULE AS HE MOURNED HIS MOTHER
1 Sept 8 The then Prince of Wales rushed more than 150 miles from Dumfries House in Cumnock to Balmoral to be by his mother’s side as she passed away.
2 Sept 9 His Majesty then travelled from Aberdeen airport to London to meet
Liz Truss at Buckingham Palace.
3 Sept 10 Charles III is proclaimed King at St James’s Palace.
He later hosts the Archbishop of Canterbury at Buckingham Palace.
4 Sept 11 Remains at the Palace where he hosts high commissioners from the Commonwealth.
5 Sept 12 He attends engagements at Westminster Hall before travelling to Edinburgh airport. From here he drives to the Palace of Holyroodhouse where he takes part in the procession along the Royal Mile and the thanksgiving service at St Giles’.
He later drives to Scottish Parliament to meet the first minister and attend a reception. Later that evening he returns to lead the vigil over the Queen’s coffin at St Giles’.
6 Sept 13 The King leaves Edinburgh for Belfast where he is driven to Hillsborough Castle. Engagements include meeting leaders, a walkabout and attending a reception. Returns to RAF Northolt in time to meet the Queen’s coffin after it arrives by air.
7 Sept 14 Leads foot procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall. Attends service followed by vigil with siblings. Travels to Highgrove in Gloucestershire.
1 8 Sept 15 Day of rest.
9 Sept 16 Travels to Cardiff via helicopter from Highgrove to conclude tour of nations visiting Llandaff Cathedral and Welsh Parliament.
10 Sept 17 Back in London to greet mourners in the queue.
