-

1 The State Hearse is flanked by pall bearers and an escort party of the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards. The Queen’s Company Colour, the Royal Standard of the Grenadier Guards, and a Sovereign’s Standard of the Household Cavalry follow behind. The procession steps off, along The Long Walk and East enters Windsor Castle. Lawn 2 At the castle Quadrangle, the procession is joined by King Charles and other royals walking directly behind the coffin. Minute guns are fired and both the Sebastopol Bell and the Curfew Tower Bell toll as the coffin moves in procession to the West Steps of St George’s Chapel. 3 Committal service is conducted by the Dean of Windsor. Prior to the Albert final hymn, the Imperial Memorial State Crown, the Orb and the Sceptre are removed. After Chapel the final hymn the Lord Chamberlain ‘breaks’ his wand of office. As the coffin is lowered into the Royal Vault, the Dean of Windsor says a psalm and the commendation. The Sovereign’s Piper plays a lament from doorway between the chapel and the Dean’s Cloister. He then walks slowly towards the deanery in the cloister so the music inside the chapel gradually fades.
