Why Collins’ mad moment was all down to Haaland
WE CAN presume 21-year-old Wolves defender Nathan Collins doesn’t tackle chest-high every week, as he did against Jack Grealish on Saturday, or he wouldn’t have a career in football. So what went wrong? Call it the Haaland effect. Wolves’ back line were so worried by how to contain Manchester City’s force of nature that they stopped thinking straight. Look at the goals. Players began taking up strange positions, dropping when they should have got tight, getting sucked in, getting pulled out.
Then Collins sprinted over to Grealish and launched into a tackle that earned an unquestionable red card. This is another of Erling Haaland’s powers: he’s scrambling brains.
