NOW would be the ideal time to create a lasting legacy for the late Queen Elizabeth by bequeathing any spare royal estates to the nation. Balmoral would be a wonderful home for ex- servicemen or hospice, as would Clarence House.

Perhaps the Castle of Mey could be donated to the nation.
