HOW THE LAVER CUP WORKS...

THERE are two teams — Team Europe and Team World — of six players. Three players per side qualified by world ranking after the French Open, the other three are captain’s picks.

FORMAT

TODAY and tomorrow, there are three singles matches and one doubles match, with four singles matches on Sunday. Each player must play at least one singles match in the first two days, but Roger Federer has signalled he will withdraw after tonight. All matches are best of three sets. If needed, the third set will be a 10-point tiebreaker.

POINTS

THERE is one point per match today, two per match tomorrow, and three per match on Sunday. The first team to reach 13 points is the winner.
