Plant of the week

SEDUM ‘MR GOODBUD’

-

CORRECTLY known as Hylotelephium, this is a succulent plant related to stonecrops. Flowering from early to mid or late autumn, it produces sturdy stems bearing pale green, fleshy leaves. At the top of each stem a tightly packed shallow dome appears, bearing purple or deep pink flowers.

Tall sedums like these thrive in full sun, in sharpdraining soils. They are drought resistant, looking better now than most perennials after a hot, dry summer. The young shoots emerge early in the season but increase in height slowly, with their first flowers in September.
