The family of killers
Now death crash (and drug dealing) father of 22 sees a SECOND son jailed for murder
A MURDERER described by a judge as a ‘remorseless assassin’ has become the third convicted killer from the same family.
Kane Hull, 29, smirked as he was jailed for life yesterday after a masked attack in which victim Ryan Kirkpatrick was knifed at least six times.
Hull’s father Raymond Hull, from Carlisle, is a killer driver, career criminal and father of 22 children by 11 different women, who is believed to have claimed at least £1.2million in benefits.
The 67-year- old received a suspended sentence two years ago for causing the death of 90-year-old Leslie Todd by careless driving. He has more than 30 previous convictions.
Meanwhile another of his sons Adrian, now 42, spent 17 years behind bars after being found guilty of murdering his former 29-year-old babysitter in a ‘ merciless and prolonged’ attack.
Confirming the Hull family as one of Britain’s most odious, the court heard that Kane Hull, who has 30 previous offences including three attacks with weapons, set upon Mr Kirkpatrick with accomplice Liam Porter, 33, who was given a life sentence with a minimum term of 26 years. Hull must serve a minimum term of 28 years.
Both men grinned at their friends as they entered the dock for sentencing and smirked as they left, infuriating the family of their 24year-old victim, who shouted ‘cowards’ as they were led away.
Carlisle Crown Court heard how Hull and Porter first attacked Mr Kirkpatrick, with whom they had a long-running feud, using a glass.
But Mr Kirkpatrick escaped, so the pair went home and changed into a disguise including masks before returning. Hull then stabbed his victim with a six-inch knife, piercing Mr Kirkpatrick’s lung and liver and cutting the main pulmonary artery.
The court heard Mr Kirkpatrick was murdered while out with friends in Carlisle city centre having attended a christening in the afternoon on September 18 last year.
Sentencing, Mr Justice Linden told Hull: ‘The words “vicious”, “callous” and “cowardly” were words used by leading counsel to describe what you did, but I don’t think that goes far enough.’
Hull had previously been jailed for affray and possessing a weapon after attacking Mr Kirkpatrick in 2017. Aged 15, Hull was also locked up for stabbing a man in an alleyway.
The court heard how Hull and Porter, both from Carlisle, fled the scene, burned the car they were using, then drove another vehicle to Scotland before crossing the Irish Sea. They were apprehended ten days later in County Mayo, where Hull was hiding in a loft. Detective Chief Superintendent Mick Bird, of Cumbria Police, said 60 detectives had been assigned to the case, adding: ‘The streets of Carlisle are a lot safer without people like Kane Hull.’
Patriarch Raymond Hull was previously spared jail over a drug dealing offence in 2014, receiving an 18month suspended term. Two of his other sons have also received jail sentences for crimes including assault and armed robbery.
What sort of country gives £1.2million benefits to an odious family like this?
