WOULD LIKE TO MEET

SOMEONE who respects me and is emotionally mature, funny, family-orientated and loyal. Being hot doesn’t hurt, either.

DATING PAST?

I’ve been single for three years after a long-term relationship broke down. I have been cheated on in the past and find it tricky to meet the right person, particularly with online dating. I’ve been ghosted a few times, which can wear you down.

PRE-DATE NERVES?

I DON’T usually get nervous, but eli is observant and picked up on the fact that I seemed to be. I was simply a little reserved. I tend to put a guard up but I relaxed once we started talking.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS?

He’s very tall, which is nice as I am 5ft 8in. He was also dressed smartly, wearing a burgundy jumper and chino trousers. He seemed very sure of himself but not in an arrogant way so, yes, he is very attractive.

EASY TO TALK TO?

I LOVE that he’s driven and ambitious. We talked about his family in the U.s., and the fact that he’s travelled quite a bit. I wasn’t sure he’d find my British sense of humour funny because he seemed quite serious at times, but he laughed along.

However, it soon became clear that we were looking for different things. I’m ready to meet someone and settle down, whereas he’s divorced and has a daughter so is in no rush to go down that road again. He mentioned that his career was his priority right now and dating had taken a back seat.

But there were no awkward silences and I enjoyed connecting with someone new who was interesting, gentlemanly and polite. He paid me compliments, which was nice; he said I had beautiful eyes and was kind-natured.

EMBARRASSING MOMENTS?

I WOULDN’T say it was embarrassing exactly, but when I arrived at the table, eli didn’t stand up to greet me, which made things a bit awkward initially.

DID SPARKS FLY?

NOT really, unfortunately. He’s a nice guy but you can’t force these things. I think you just know when you click with someone.

SEE HIM AGAIN?

I DON’T think so. At the end of the date we just shared a hug and said our goodbyes. We didn’t swap numbers. He’s the sort of man I’d be glad to set up with a friend — in fact, one of my friends would really get on with him — but he’s not right for me.

WHAT DO YOU THINK HE THOUGHT OF YOU?

I DON’T think he fancied me, but we still had an enjoyable evening.

WOULD YOUR FAMILY LIKE HIM?

Yes, my family would definitely like him, but they’d be able to tell that we’d be better as friends.
