Coma turned me into a carpenter
HE says that as a schoolboy he was ‘rubbish’ at art and people used to laugh at his drawings.
But when he came out of a month-long coma after brain surgery, Moe Hunter, 38, pictured, discovered he had inexplicably acquired artistic talents. The former Burger King worker found he could draw, paint and build impressive models and has since been able to earn a living as a carpenter and model maker.
He said medical professionals could not explain how it happened but his neurologist told him: ‘Just enjoy it.’
Mr Hunter, from Hereford, was left in a coma after surgery at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 2004.
‘After being given this second chance and a new talent, I wanted to make the most of it so I went self-employed as a carpenter making toy boxes,’ he said.
