Irish eye silverware

-

CAPTAIN Johnny Sexton insists Andy Farrell’s Ireland have ‘done nothing really’ as he targets major silverware to go with the scalps of New Zealand and world champions South Africa.

‘We are building well but we have to win trophies,’ said the Ireland veteran. Ireland further cemented their position at the top of the world rankings with Saturday’s win over the Springboks, following on from their historic summer series win away to the All Blacks.

Fly-half Sexton kicked three crucial penalties at the Aviva Stadium to ensure Farrell’s men began their autumn campaign with a bang. However, the victory came at a cost and Ireland must wait to discover the extent of injuries to centre Stuart McCloskey, scrum-half Conor Murray and prop Tadhg Furlong. Ireland will face South Africa next year during the World Cup pool stages.
