Now lecturers strike over pay

STUDENTS face misery this month after lecturers announced their biggest ever strike over pay, conditions and pensions.

the three- day walkout, beginning on November 24, will impact up to 2.5million students across 153 universiti­es.

Lectures are likely to be cancelled and facilities including libraries may close as academic and support staff walk out. It follows walkouts in 2018, 2019, 2021 and February this year. Raj Jethwa of the Universiti­es and Colleges employers Associatio­n, said: ‘Any threats of industrial action will do nothing to support students, staff or the many he institutio­ns working hard to avoid redundanci­es.’

A Universiti­es UK spokesman said universiti­es are prepared and ‘will put in place... measures to protect students’ education’.
