WOULD LIKE TO MEET

A COUNTRY-LOVING lady who’s sporty, solvent, happy and kind.

DATING PAST

I MARRIED young, then divorced. What followed was a 25-year relationship during which I had two children. I’ve had a few first dates thanks to online dating, but I’ve become disillusioned by the amount of married women, time-wasters and scammers who seem to use them. Is it really that hard to find a bubbly, entrepreneurial, tory-voting woman?

PRE-DATE NERVES?

Not at all, I was looking forward to it.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS?

Zoe is a willowy blonde with a beautiful smile. she was wearing a stunning green dress which suited her.

We got chatting straight away, barely pausing for breath and ended up waving the waitress away several times. In the end, we had to make ourselves focus on the menu and order.

EASY TO TALK TO?

Yes, very. Zoe lives on the south devon coast and I live on the north side. It was good to meet another outdoorsy person. We had a good joke about previous nightmare dates we’d both been on. Zoe told me how she had switched from her stressful work as a teacher to setting up her dog-grooming business.

We shared starters and a chocolate bomb for dessert — that’s my sweet tooth. It was a magical afternoon.

EMBARRASSING MOMENTS?

Not unless you count the next table being a bit nosy and taking an interest in our conversation.

DID SPARKS FLY?

Yes, I would say there was chemistry between us. We got on very well. Although my heart sank a bit when Zoe explained her mum had signed her up. Is Zoe happily single? I do wonder, as she did mention she has lots of male friends. I’m a typical Aries and if I get hurt by someone or they don’t share my dream, then I run.

SEE HER AGAIN?

We got on and we did fancy one another but I haven’t had any encouragement from Zoe about meeting up again. I was on the date to meet my dream woman but I hadn’t appreciated my match didn’t have the same goals. Maybe I’ve misread things and she hasn’t ruled me out — who knows?

WHAT DO YOU THINK SHE THOUGHT OF YOU?

THAT I’m entertaining company, given we had a fun couple of hours.

WOULD YOUR FRIENDS LIKE HER?

Yes, Zoe is very bubbly — but they want me to be with someone who cares about me.
