We’ve been expecting you, Mr Bond. But not in a vest
AS James Bond, he was all steely focus and sharp suits.
But Daniel Craig has revealed a very different kind of cool in his latest role, wearing a tight black vest as he pouts his way through a flamboyant dance sequence.
In a new vodka advert, the 54-year-old actor – who played 007 for the last time in 2021’s No Time To Die – is seen entering the door of a car in a smart white suit.
But when he emerges from the other side of the vehicle, he is transformed in a black leather jacket, sunglasses, silver chain necklace and black trousers. He begins dancing extravagantly as he throws his shades away and enters a hotel where he carries on his routine before eventually stepping out of a lift in a black vest.
In the routine, put together by Beyonce’s choreographer JaQuel Knight, he also splashes around in a water feature.
One Bond fan wrote on social media: ‘I finally have a chance to be like Daniel Craig! Too much vodka and endearingly stiff dance moves is me at every wedding.’
It drew comparisons with actor Christopher Walken’s memorable dance routine in the Fatboy Slim music video for the song Weapon of Choice.
The advert, for Belvedere Vodka, was directed by Taika Waititi, whose film work includes Thor: Love and Thunder. He told GQ magazine: ‘[Craig] was just great and he wasn’t cynical about it, and he wasn’t reticent. He just leaned straight in.’
