ENGLAND’S thrilling victory in the T20 World Cup final yesterday marks the team’s remarkable metamorphosis from whipping boys of the one-day game just a few years ago to reigning champions in both 20- and 50-over formats today.

So will our national football team be inspired by their example?

at the 2018 World Cup they reached the semi-final for the first time since 1990. In last year’s euros they made the final, only to lose on penalties.
