HOW HE WENT FROM T20 VILLAIN TO HERO

-

BEN STOKES has suffered contrasting fortunes in white-ball finals. The England all-rounder was inconsolable (left) after the 2016 T20 World Cup final, when he was smashed for four sixes in a row by Carlos Brathwaite in Kolkata. Stokes had begun bowling the final over with the West Indies needing 19 runs to snatch victory, but Brathwaite went six-crazy to snatch the trophy. Three years later, Stokes (right) turned hero in the final of the 50-over World Cup against New Zealand at Lord’s. He held the England innings together with an unbeaten 84, then starred in the tied Super Over that ended with his side winning on boundary countback.
