THE RICKSHAW RELAY RIDES AGAIN, 8PM, BBC1

A STAPLE of Children In Need, this fundraiser teams Matt Baker with five inspiring young people (including Tabitha, pictured with Matt) — who have all been supported by projects funded by the BBC’s charity — for a five-day relay ride around the country, each visiting their home town and places that are significant to them. This year, there’s been a twist: a sixth day was added so members of the public could cycle alongside the rickshaw at the famous Silverstone motor racing circuit to clock up the miles and the money. This special covers the event, which took place in October, as well as celebrating its history — it’s now in its 12th year — and sharing the experiences of the riders who have been supported by Children In Need-funded organisations. These youngsters’ stories are both heartbreaking and uplifting — and, hopefully, will inspire the nation to dig deep for a good cause. The big night itself is on Friday from 7pm.
