LGBT crest for US team
THE united states have redesigned their crests around their team base for the World Cup to incorporate the rainbow flag, in a bid to show solidarity with the LGBT community. But it is believed that the badge on players’ matchday kits will still have red stripes. The move comes after a Qatar World Cup ambassador said that homosexuality was ‘damage in the mind’. Meanwhile, England, Wales, Germany and France are among the nations whose captains plan to wear OneLove armbands during matches in Qatar to promote inclusion. But the move proved unpopular with the hosts, and did not receive FIFA approval.
