Wreath layers

THE Mail’s Ephraim Hardcastle asked last week why the Queen consort would not be laying a wreath at the cenotaph, even though Prince Philip always laid a wreath.

The Duke of Edinburgh did so because he was a former Royal navy officer who had seen active service and been commended for his actions. The previous Queens consort (Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother and Queen Mary) never laid wreaths.
