Angry Ten Hag wants Ronaldo out

- By CHRIS WHEELER

ERIK TEN HAG has given Manchester United the green light to ditch Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portugal star has burned his bridges with Ten Hag by saying that he has no respect for the manager in an interview with Piers Morgan.

It is understood that Ten Hag has agreed with chairman Joel Glazer, chief executive Richard Arnold and football director John Murtough that Ronaldo should not play for United again. The club’s lawyers have studied Ronaldo’s comments and will watch the entire interview before deciding if there are grounds to sack him. United have been hurt by the accusation that they were unsympathetic to Ronaldo’s family problems when he missed their summer tour because his baby daughter was in hospital with illness.

As well as being allowed to miss the trip to Bangkok and Australia, sources close to Ronaldo let it be known that he appreciated Arnold’s handling of the matter. Though both sides now accept that a parting of the ways is inevitable, Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes wants United to pay up the remaining £14million of his client’s contract while the club want to reach a mutual decision to tear up the deal if they are unable to sack him.
