Some joy at last for poor Eamonn -- a new TV deal

-

FOLLOWING a horrendous few months, I’m pleased to report there’s some good news on the horizon for Eamonn Holmes.

The Northern Irish presenter, currently off- screen after suffering a nasty fall at his home in Surrey, is set to be offered a bumper new deal with GB News.

Eamonn has clearly made a big impact at the channel and I can reveal that bosses have drawn up a brand new contract, which will see him continue to host the breakfast show alongside Isabel Webster in the New Year.

Speaking at this week’s TV Choice Awards, Webster said she was ‘ missing her friend terribly’.

So popular is the 62-year-old with the powers that be, that in addition to an extension of his morning role, he is also being offered his own chat show.

‘ Eamonn has had a really difficult few months,’ my source

tells me. ‘So this is welcome news and comes at a time where Eamonn continues to recover from his accident.

‘ He’s hugely popular with viewers, ratings are strong and GB News wants to reward him with a new contract.

‘The idea with the new chatshow is for Eamonn to sit down with high-profile names talking about their life and times. It’s something which really appeals to him and he’ll have talks about it in the New Year.’

News of the deal comes a matter of weeks after he revealed he’d fallen while recovering from an operation to correct a long-term issue with his back. It means he’s unlikely to appear on the small screen again until next year.

Earlier this year, John Cleese announced he was fronting a new show on the channel’s TV and radio platforms which is due to start broadcasting in early 2023.

My Daily Mail colleague Andrew Pierce has also recently started a new programme on the station.

GB News has declined to comment.
