Sheen stands firm in Wales row
MICHAEL Sheen has doubled down on his criticism of the Prince of Wales, saying his support for England in the World Cup was an ‘instance of the absurdity’ of his title.
The Welsh actor, 3, had previously said that it was ‘entirely inappropriate’ for William to hold the title if he wasn’t supporting the Welsh team. Yesterday he stressed that the current controversy was far bigger than a question of football.
William has said that he is supporting both teams but stressed that he is president of the English Football Association and a long-time England fan. Sheen wrote on Twitter: ‘The issue is that the title Prince of Wales seems inappropriate to be held by anyone not Welsh and this is just an instance of the absurdity. It’s not about supporting England or Wales or both.’
