Neighbours moving back to TV screens

-

NEIGHBOURS is being revived – four months after its ‘final’ episode was shown.

Amazon has announced that its free streaming service, Amazon Freevee, has saved the beloved soap and filming will resume in Australia next year.

The likes of Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson), Alan Fletcher (Dr Karl Kennedy), Ryan Moloney (Toadfish) and Jackie Woodburne (Susan Kennedy) will reprise their roles.

The new series will be available to stream for free in the UK and US and will include streaming rights to thousands of past episodes.

Production will begin early next year, with a world premiere planned towards the end of 2023.

Neighbours ended in July after 37 years and 8,903 episodes, with almost three million viewers tuning in to Channel 5 to watch the star- studded final instalment featuring Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan.

Lauren Anderson, from Amazon Studios, said: ‘We look forward to immersing the audience in new Ramsay Street experiences when we relaunch the show next year.’
