Town and country

-

I SUSPECT most of those having problems getting a GP appointment are registered with town or innercity practices.

Luckily for me, I am registered with a country practice that operates surgeries in several villages. On two occasions recently, I have emailed my health concerns and received the offer of a same-day or next-day faceto-face appointment. I have also been referred to the local hospital A&E department, where I was seen and treated quickly.

It is these small, efficient establishments that always seem to be under threat of closure.

MY DAUGHTER’S GP surgery in South Wales remained open and working normally during the whole of the pandemic, with face-to-face appointments available throughout the day as usual. If they can do it, why can’t others?
