Mauricio Pochettino has revealed he is open to becoming england manager as Gareth Southgate’s team prepare to kick off their World cup campaign.

Former tottenham boss Pochettino was at Wembley for england’s last game, the draw with Germany in September.

Southgate’s contract expires in 2026 but there is speculatio­n the 52-year-old will leave after the Qatar World cup. now Pochettino, 50, has opened the door to succeeding Southgate, as england prepare to face iran on Monday.

‘My relationsh­ip with england has always been very good,’ he told The Athletic. ‘We have a very good relationsh­ip with the academies, trying to develop young players for the national team. i feel so comfortabl­e here. You never know what happens. i am open to everything.’

Pochettino has already worked with Fa technical director John McDermott at Spurs. the argentine is looking for a route back into management after leaving Paris Saint-Germain earlier this year.
