DAVID BADDIEL: JEWS DON’T COUNT, 9PM, CH4
THE Jewish comedian and author explores why, in his opinion, antisemitism isn’t considered by the progressive left to be as unacceptable as other forms of discrimination. Using a wide range of examples, from popular culture and theatre to football and politics, he asks why, at a time of extreme sensitivity about racism and discrimination against minorities, does there appear to be a lack of inclusion towards Jews? It’s a question David explored at length in his book of the same name, which was published last year, and is one that raises many complex issues and inspires strong feelings. With antisemitic attacks on the rise, this is a timely as well as an impassioned and eyeopening documentary, in which David sets out to debunk some dangerous stereotypes. Happily, it’s frequently funny, too, especially when David meets some famous fellow Jews to hear about their own thoughts and experiences — including David Schwimmer, Sarah Silverman, Miriam Margolyes and Rachel Riley (pictured with David).
