UPRIGHT, 9PM, SKY COMEDY

-

SERIES one of this Aussie comedy was a treat, with the multi-talented Tim Minchin as Lucky, a musician setting off on a road trip, with a piano, in the hope of seeing his dying mum for one last time. He gave a lift to runaway teen Meg (Milly Alcock, pictured with Minchin), who was on a mission of her own. For most of us, it was the first time we’d seen the brilliant Alcock, who has since gone on to bigger things in the Game Of Thrones prequel House Of The Dragon. She returns for series two, which reunites Lucky and Meg years later, as his life in particular reaches a real low point. Meg isn’t happy either, but she’s better at hiding it, and the two set off on a new journey — this time in the steamy tropics of northern Queensland — that will hopefully fix both of their lives. This isn’t hugs and learning, though — Upright is a raw show all round, and all the better for it — although the language may be too much for some. All eight episodes are available via NOW and Sky on demand today, along with the first series.
