Tragic choice

I TOOK my husband to hospital to have a drain removed. It should have been taken out weeks before but he couldn’t get an appointmen­t. The following day, he was moved to another ward for palliative care, against the wishes of the nurse on duty, as he was unwell. Three days later, I was told he was at endof-life and he was given drugs to keep him sedated until he died four days later.

I have no faith in the NHS in dealing with the elderly. Taking him to hospital is my greatest regret. I agree with A&E chief Dr Adrian Boyle (Mail) — keep your elderly relatives at home.
