Tragic choice
I TOOK my husband to hospital to have a drain removed. It should have been taken out weeks before but he couldn’t get an appointment. The following day, he was moved to another ward for palliative care, against the wishes of the nurse on duty, as he was unwell. Three days later, I was told he was at endof-life and he was given drugs to keep him sedated until he died four days later.
I have no faith in the NHS in dealing with the elderly. Taking him to hospital is my greatest regret. I agree with A&E chief Dr Adrian Boyle (Mail) — keep your elderly relatives at home.
