Lenient sentence
I AM appalled that the 16-yearold who pulled a gun on a disabled woman (Mail) didn’t get a custodial sentence. The woman could have had a heart attack from shock — she wouldn’t have realised that it wasn’t a real firearm. The majority of ball-bearing guns are difficult to distinguish from the real thing.
Court sentences are far too lenient. You read about cases where criminals have been to court numerous times without being jailed. In prison, yes they will be living free at taxpayers’ expense, but at least they will have been stopped from causing more trouble.
