Here’s how to fix condensation

-

YOUR home is at risk of damp and mould if it is suffering from condensation build-up.

But there’s good news — you can often fix it without needing to call in professionals. Condensation occurs when humid air touches cold surfaces. In uK homes, that’s usually window panes and external walls. And come winter, the condensation problem worsens.

■ stOP condensation in its tracks with a dehumidifier. It will suck in the moisture, enticing it away from your home’s cold surfaces. It then condenses this moisture and drops it into a container for you to dispose of.

■ UsE extractor fans. Moisture is produced in abundance from household activities such as cooking and showering. Extractor fans draw in moisture-filled air and throw it outside. This prevents it from wreaking havoc in your home.

■ AIrDry laundry wisely. Moisture evaporates, entering the air and eventually forming condensation. To lessen the build-up, airdry your laundry in one room. This will isolate the condensation to a single room. Just place your dehumidifier in that room — and the condensation is gone.

■ smartControl is a good choice. You want a dehumidifier to remove the right amount of moisture and only use the energy necessary. This is almost impossible with manually-controlled dehumidifiers. So Ebac’s experts have developed Smart Control. This automatic control system gathers data on your home’s relative humidity and switches itself on and off accordingly. Smart Control provides the best of both worlds. It removes all that nasty moisture but doesn’t waste energy.
