US embassy sees the funny side

THE American embassy in London jokingly announced it had ‘fired’ a diplomat for supporting England.

It posted a video of embassy official Aaron Snipe wearing an England shirt with his office draped in St George flags.

Mr Snipe gets reprimanded by a colleague, who says: ‘You work for the US embassy. You cannot be rooting for England’, before a statement announces: ‘We are sad to announce the departure of our spokesperson Aaron Snipes – but some things are more important than diplomacy. Come on, Team USA!’

Mr Snipe has the last laugh, agreeing to take off his England shirt, but revealing he has an away England jersey underneath.

It came as heavy-handed Qatari officials in Doha ordered an Argentine TV crew off air during an interview. Colleagues in the studio in Buenos Aires said: ‘This is what the Qatar government is like.’
