Now Raab faces 3rd bullying claim
DOMINIC Raab is facing fresh scrutiny over bullying claims after a third formal complaint was made about his conduct.
The Deputy Prime Minister is already being investigated over two allegations of bullying – one from his time as foreign secretary and the other from his stint as justice secretary.
Now the probe is being expanded to include another complaint, which relates to his time as Brexit secretary in 2018.
The latest claim is set to pile pressure on Prime Minister Rishi Sunak who has resisted calls to sack him.
Last night No 10 confirmed that Mr Sunak had asked for the complaint to be included in the independent investigation but refused to ‘preempt or pre-judge the process’.
It is unknown when the probe – which is being carried out by top employment lawyer Adam Tolley KC – will be completed. But Downing Street has promised to publish the report in full.
This week Mr Raab, who asked the Prime Minister to open an independent investigation into him, insisted he had always ‘behaved professionally’ and promised to ‘rebut and refute’ claims about his behaviour towards junior staff. He told the BBC: ‘I look forward to dealing with [the investigation] fully and transparently rather than dealing with anonymous comments in the media.’
But Opposition MPs have called on Mr Sunak to sack Mr Raab.
Labour’s deputy leader Angela Rayner said: ‘The Prime Minister’s desperate efforts to artificially restrict the scope of this so- called independent investigation into Dominic Raab are already crumbling beneath him. The drip-drip-drip of serious complaints emerging about his deputy shows he can no longer stem the tide.’
Liberal Democrat Wendy Chamberlain added: ‘This flood of allegations about Dominic Raab’s bullying behaviour cannot be swept under the carpet. Rishi Sunak must confirm he will sack Raab if these complaints are upheld.’
