Musk to lift ban on Twitter accounts

-

ELON Musk has announced that suspended Twitter accounts will be offered an amnesty next week.

The tycoon, who bought the social media site for £38billion in October, asked in a poll: ‘Should Twitter offer a general amnesty to suspended accounts, provided that they have not broken the law or engaged in egregious spam?’

More than three million users voted on Wednesday and Thursday and 72.4 per cent said yes. Musk said: ‘The people have spoken. Amnesty begins next week. Vox Populi, Vox Dei.’ The Latin phrase means ‘the voice of the people is the voice of God’.

The declaration opens up the possibility that thousands of suspended accounts will be immediately reinstated. It’s not yet clear whether there will be a vetting process. It follows a survey on whether Donald Trump should be reinstated. A majority said yes but the former US president said he had no interest.
