DNA trapped double killer 27 years on

-

A BURGLAR who once raped two women has been jailed for life for killing a war hero and his sister.

Danville Neil, 65, evaded justice for almost three decades after killing William Bryan, 71, and Anne Castle, 74, in east London in 1993. He was arrested in 2020 when his DNA was found on the strap of a pair of binoculars used to tie up the Second World War veteran.

Mr Bryan went into cardiac arrest after being smothered and Mrs Castle suffered a heart attack.

Neil was found guilty of Mr Bryan’s murder and Mrs Castle’s manslaughter by an Old Bailey jury this month.

Mrs Justice Bobbie Cheema-Grubb told him yesterday: ‘Justice has caught up with you.’

Neil was jailed in 1985 for raping two women with William Victor Norris, the uncle of David Norris, who was jailed in 2012 for his part in the racist murder of Stephen Lawrence.
