THERE are a lot of children’s animations around at this time of year, but few succeed in entertaini­ng a wider audience. This offbeat comedy caper from DreamWorks is one of those that does. A CELEBRATIO­N of Dodd’s extraordin­ary showbiz career, which began in the 1950s. This film uses the Liverpudli­an’s own words and those of his wife, Anne, to tell his story, from his 1930s childhood in Knotty Ash, Liverpool, to his final years — still performing — before his death in 2018 at the age of 90.

CUSTOM WHEELS Drew’s Dream Car, 9pm, Quest

FOR this chatty new series, Wheeler Dealers’ master mechanic hot-headed Mr Piranha. One day, though, something happens that causes the charismati­c Mr Wolf to wonder what it would be like to be good — putting the bad guys’ latest ingenious heist in jeopardy. Fun for all the family, this is bursting with colour and a wide variety of gags — and yes, that is British comedian Richard Ayoade as the voice of wealthy philanthro­pist guinea pig Professor Rupert Marmalade IV.

U.S. CRIME DRAMA Big Sky: Deadly Trails, Disney+

THE Montana detective series is now into its third season, which features the arrival of new characters including The Boys’ Jensen Ackles as the town’s new head sheriff, and crime-solving partner for detective Jenny Hoyt (Vikings’ Katheryn Winnick). Glossy and tense, it’s crammed with bold characters, epic settings and twists. New episodes arrive weekly on Wednesdays, with series one and two already available on Disney+.
