TODAY Bank Holiday TOMORROW

■ Rail passengers to suffer again as another national strike begins. Only about 20 per cent of normal services will run as members of the RMT trade union at National Rail and 14 train operators begin a 48-hour walkout.

■ Motorists will also be hit as Nationalt Highways staff in the PCS union begin their first strikes across England. The walkout by control room and patrol staff could mean delays in drivers being alerted to incidents as well as longer carriagewa­y closures.

■ Even those hoping to get theirh licences will be affected as driving examiners in the PCS union restart strikes in the east of England and Midlands.

■ Jobcentre staff in Liverpool starttt a week of industrial action.

■ Customer services workersk in the Rural Payments Agency also stop work.

WEDNESDAY, JAN 4

■ Commuters blighted again as a the national rail and traffic officers strikes continue.

■ Bus passengers will also be hit as drivers in the Unite union restart industrial action that began before

Christmas, affecting services in south London.

■ The DVSA driving examiners’ strike moves to London, southern England and Wales.

THURSDAY, JAN 5

■ Still no chance of rail passengers getting their usual trains as drivers represente­d by the Aslef union stage a one-day strike.

■ Bus drivers continue their walkouts.

■ Driving examiners also walk out.

FRIDAY, JAN 6

■ Yet another 48-hour strike begins by rail workers in the RMT union.

■ National Highways staff in theh PCS union also begin another two-day walkout, in the east Midlands and eastern England

■ Driving examiners remainn on strike.
