ROMANTIC GETAWAY, 10.15PM, SKY COMEDY

-

SKY’S amusingly hectic new comedy has a lot going for it, including an unusual premise — a couple steal a five-figure sum from their dodgy boss to fund a last shot at IVF. That couple are played by the comedians Katherine Ryan and Romesh Ranganathan (pictured), who certainly know their way around a punchline and deliver the show’s jokes with conviction. The downside is that they don’t really connect as actors, so the emotional depth this show perhaps could have had — which would make it funnier — isn’t there. It’s breezily entertaining, though, as the wannabe parents and unlikely criminals find themselves caught up in a sequence of events spiralling ever further out of their control, and Johnny Vegas is great as their vile boss. New double bills arrive on Sky Comedy on Sundays, with the entire six-part series available on demand via Sky/Now.

SUNNY SEQUEL Downton Abbey: A New Era, 10.10am, 8pm, Sky Premiere

IT’S Downton, but not quite as you know it. When a film crew set up shop in their stately home, the Crawleys and their servants head off to the south of France, to temporarily move into a villa unexpectedly inherited by the Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith). The setting for the show’s second spin-off movie may be sunny and new, but the opportunities for drama are as reassuringly regular as ever with legal, romantic and familial problems besetting both the upstairs and downstairs. Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern (both pictured) Jim Carter, Michelle Dockery, Imelda Staunton and Penelope Wilton are all among the familiar faces making a welcome return.

WELL CRAFTED The Woodland Workshop, 9pm, Quest

A NEW series for this charming show, in which experts create lovely items for deserving members of the public. Here, chainsaw artist Ella carves a motorbike out of wood.

THANK YOU GIFT Celebrity IOU, 9pm, TLC

THIS heartwarming series ends with movie star Halle Berry doing something nice for a teacher who made a huge difference in her life. Yvonne took Halle under her wing, and their bond is clearly still strong. (Sky 133, Virgin 167)
