ARSENAL MAKE IMPROVED £62m BID FOR MUDRYK

- By SIMON JONES

ARSENAL have made an improved offer for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhailo Mudryk, 21, understood to be worth up to £62million. Talks are continuing with Shakhtar eager to get more of a guaranteed fee up front for Mudryk after rejecting Arsenal’s opening offer of £35m plus £17m in add-ons. The Gunners remain in talks over Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix but the Spanish side’s £13.25m loan demand is more than twice what MANCHESTER UNITED are willing to pay for the Portugal forward. Felix, 23, also wants around £5.3m in wages for the rest of the season, pushing the cost of the deal close to £20m. There are no talks ongoing with United and that would only change if the Spanish club altered their stance.

■ ATLETICO MADRID have asked about taking Caglar Soyuncu from Leicester City, but a deal is considered highly unlikely. The Turkey defender, 26, is instead expected to agree a pre-contract for the summer when he is a free agent.

■ CRISTIANO RONALDO arrived in Riyadh last night ahead of his medical with Al Nassr today. The club plan to unveil the former Manchester United forward at 4pm. UNITED want to keep Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay this month to maintain strength in depth for Erik ten Hag’s squad.

■ LIVERPOOL are weighing up a summer move for Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes, 24. Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham remains their prime target but Nunes is also under consideration.

■ NOTTINGHAM FOREST are prepared to listen to offers for Emmanuel Dennis despite only signing him last summer for £15m from Watford. The 25-year-old has failed to make an impact and Forest need to trim their squad before strengthening again this window. Meanwhile, Blackpool are trying to re-sign Josh Bowler on loan from Forest. The winger, 23, has been with Forest’s sister club Olympiacos.

■ BRIGHTON striker Aaron Connolly, 22, is poised to join Hull on loan after struggling at Italian side Venezia.

■ WATFORD have agreed a £2m deal for Benfica right back Joao Ferreira, 21, who flew to England yesterday.

■ BURNLEY right back Matt Lowton, 33, is close to joining Huddersfield on loan until the end of the season. Burnley are interested in Nottingham Forest striker Sam Surridge.

THE WINDOW SHUTS AT 11PM ON JANUARY 31
