‘ I’ve kissed women but have only dated men – until now ’

-

DATING PAST?

I HAD a nine-month relationship when I was 19, but since then my dating life can be summed up in three words: friends with benefits.

I identify as bisexual — I have always found everyone attractive, but it took a while for me to realise this. So although I have kissed women before, this will be my first date with a woman. I’m looking forward to it.

PRE-DATE NERVES?

I WAS nervous and excited — my only fear was when the butterflies kick in, I have a tendency to ramble. It didn’t help that I was delayed because of transport problems and was 45 minutes late.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS?

I APPROACHED Khushboo like a hurricane, profusely apologising. She got up to greet me and I gave her a massive hug. We both complimented one another on what we were wearing. Kush has lovely long hair, and looked very elegant.

EASY TO TALK TO?

YES — that’s probably because Kush was a couple of cocktails up on me. I ordered the same as her, because I needed to catch up.

for both of us, it was our first date with someone of the same sex, so there was lots to talk about. It felt easier to talk with her than with a man; there was no awkwardness. and there was no expectation of how the date would end, unlike some dates with guys.

We explored what made us realise we wanted to try dating women, talking about how the men in our past had not treated us right.

EMBARRASSING MOMENTS?

I DON’T think so — we were laughing too much.

DID SPARKS FLY?

I DON’T know. We got on, but I’m not sure about an attraction.

SEE HER AGAIN?

I’D LIKE to, if only to see if there was anything more between us. We didn’t exchange numbers, though, as we both had to leave fairly abruptly after the meal. I had to get home because I was working the next morning, and Khush was going on to a friend’s party. her taxi arrived promptly, so we only had time for a quick hug goodbye.

WHAT DO YOU THINK SHE THOUGHT OF YOU?

SHE said she liked me and I had no indication that she wasn’t enjoying herself. We had a lot in common.

WOULD YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS LIKE HER?

YES, ALTHOUGH they’d want to know her intentions towards me.
