VW HAS ITS EYES ON TESLA

-

VOLKSWAGEN is betting on its expanding ID series of pure electric cars in gambling capital Las Vegas.

The brand has just taken the wraps off its latest family saloon, the ID.7, which is pitched to take on the popular Tesla Model 3. On sale later this year, ID.7 was unveiled with a light disguise in prototype form at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. It is being built for the European market at VW’s Emden factory in Germany. The car giant says the ID.7 is aiming for a range of 435 miles from a single charge.

The official launch is planned for the second quarter of the year, with order books for UK customers likely opening towards the end of 2023.

The ID.7 will be the sixth fully electric ‘ID’ car from VW, and is expected to be sold in both saloon and estate variants. A ‘hot’ GTX version is also mooted.

No prices for the ID.7 have been announced.
