Taylor... and her £80million cat that’s still only the third richest pet in world
TAYLOR Swift may have sung herself to a reported £470million fortune, but she faces some competition in the wealth stakes – from her own cat.
Her pet Olivia Benson, a Scottish fold, has an estimated net worth of £80million after racking up millions of likes on Instagram and has starring alongside Ms Swift in several music videos.
But Olivia is only the world’s third richest pet, according to a report by All About Cats, an information website for cat owners. She was beaten to the top spot by a German shepherd from Italy called
Gunther VI and an Instagram cat star called Nala.
Nala became a social media sensation after her owners Varisiri Methachittiphan and Shannon Ellis posted images of her from their home in Los Angeles.
The cat, a Siamese tabby mix, has a net worth of £84million and holds the Guinness World Record for the most popular cat on social media. Her owners adopted Nala as a kitten from an animal rescue shelter. But the world’s richest pet, the dog Gunther VI, is worth £420million.
He inherited a multi-milliondollar trust from his owner, German countess Karlotta Liebenstein. He is now owned by the Gunther Corporation, which manages the dog’s estate and fortune.
Meanwhile, Ms Swift’s cat owes her fortune to her own merchandise line and the bigbudget adverts, including one for Diet Coke in 2014, which she has appeared in alongside her pop star owner.
