Patel to step down at Yorkshire

Lord PateL will step down as Yorkshire chairman at the county’s next annual meeting.

Patel joined Yorkshire in November 2021 following roger Hutton’s resignation in response to the club’s handling of azeem rafiq’s racism accusations. He agreed a compensation package with rafiq and ordered Yorkshire’s coaching and medical team to be sacked, which the club later admitted was procedurally unfair and led to settlements. Yorkshire were also hit with a disrepute charge, which is yet to be heard by the Cricket discipline Commission.

Lord Patel said: ‘It was an honour to work for such a prestigious organisation.’
