PICK OF TODAY’S TV GEORGE CLARKE’S AMAZING SPACES, 8PM, CH4

THE genial Geordie architect is back celebrating small-space builders, joined by his new sidekick, the designer and upcycler Max McMurdo. In this episode, he meets a woman who has an ingenious plan to rebuild her business by transforming a vintage caravan into a vegan cafe, and visits a carpenter who hopes to save a boat bound for the breakers yard. George (pictured) has been showing us Amazing Spaces for more than a decade now, and if you can cast your mind back to the first series, in 2012, you might recall that one of his first projects was turning a decrepit caravan into a hideaway for his family. Now, he’s decided it’s time to replace that 1970s relic, and so unveils one of his most ambitious and personal builds to date as he sets out to create a stunning, one-off Arts and Crafts caravan. As ever, George also sets his sights farther afield, heading this week to Israel, whose architecture is a striking mix of the old and new. There, he visits a stunning modern apartment carved out of three centuries-old rooms in the ancient city of Jaffa.
