REMARKABLE RENOVATION The Mayfair Hotel Megabuild, 9pm, BBC2

IT’S episode two of this fascinating series and the team are just over halfway through the ambitious seven-year renovation project at Claridge’s — and the challenges keep coming. The construction crew (including crane operator Lindsey,indsey, pictured) have had to adopt unusual measures to make way for the next stage of the audacious build — a multistorey roof extension — while below ground, the basement reaches its fifth and deepest levell after the challenges of groundwater and an underground river have been overcome. But then, disaster strikes as the Covid-19 pandemic forces the hotel to close for the first time in over a century, as well as derailing plans to complete the building work on time.
