Believe in better hearing

Free test ensures you’re experiencing all the joys of quality sound

-

ARE you taking good care of your hearing, or is it being overlooked? In the UK, more than 40 per cent of people aged 50 and over have hearing loss. Yet taking some simple steps can help you protect your hearing and get the right assistance to find a solution if affected.

Giving up smoking and eating a diet that includes oily fish containing omega-3 fatty acids, and vegetables that are rich in antioxidants, can improve your protection. And do ask yourself when you last had your hearing tested. Experts recommend doing this every year.

Taking action early could certainly help — not doing so has been found to increase your chances of developing dementia. Only around 40 per cent of those who need hearing aids have them. But did you know that you can have a free, no-obligation hearing test?

Ask yourself whether you often need people to repeat themselves, or do others say that you often have the TV turned up too loud?

If your answers are yes, then it could be time for that test. The free, stateofthe- art hearing tests now provided by Amplifon are by appointment only and can be booked either online, by phone or by popping into your local clinic.

And do seek help if you have hearing aids but think that they are not helping enough or want to check they are working properly.

Some hearing clinics offer free trials of hearing aids, so that you can experience the difference they make.
