Send subs to the stands for good
FOLLOWING Mikel Arteta’s impression of a demented bumblebee after Arsenal were denied a penalty against Newcastle, I watched the West Ham substitutes swarm on to the field to protest against a decision at Elland Road the next night. As I pondered possible solutions to a worsening problem, it struck me that they don’t actually even need to be there.
Let the manager, two coaches and a physio sit in the dugout and put everybody else in the front rows of the stand behind. It would be a start. Pack mentality is part of the issue at play here.
